Illustrated letterforms: draw inside the structure
These hand-drawn alphabet studies treat each character as both a readable form and an image. Botanical, anatomical, and figurative details follow the letter structure, so the illustration adds meaning without losing the outline that lets the character be recognized.
Working across selected letters let me compare line weight, density, and negative space from one form to the next. The set is an exploration of how a repeatable visual rule can leave room for variation.
